It’s A Glorious Day

All pun aside, it should be no surprise that this week’s #NewMusic spotlight is owned by none other than GloRilla. It’s a GLORIOUS day, as the Memphis Rapper’s long-awaited debut album arrives.

Sis’ glow up story has been so captivating to watch. The young spitter kicked down the door to the scene in 2022 with a viral hit on her hands. F.N.F. (Let’s Go) exploded on TikTok, landing her a record deal with Yo Gotti’s CMG Imprint. A dope mixtape, several major collaborations and six BET award nominations later, Big Glo is continuing to ride a tsunami and earn her spot in Hip Hop.

The 808’s, catchy hooks, matching cadences, fresh fashion and bubbly street personality are all the things we were hoping for in an album from Glo. And GLORIOUS is all the things! It’s giving new generation female Hip Hop royalty. There’s lyricism, where she ate down on records like ‘Stop Playin’ (Fav). There’s women’s empowerment (Which we heart), representing the girlies with features from Sexxy Red, Megan Thee Stallion, Muni Long & Latto. There’s confidence, and there’s even praise, on a Gospel record with Kirk Franklin, Maverick City Music, Kierra Sheard, and Chandler Moore. (Which is FIRE)

The album’s rollout was strong. The project’s announcement accompanied with an explosive tease delivered on ‘Hollon’, was followed up with the mega hit T.G.I.F. Now that the album is here, it seems the radio banger “I Luv Her’ featuring T-Pain may be the next single which transitions the campaign brilliantly with a solid visual.
