By now you’ve gotten familiar with digital influencer and actress Tabitha Brown. The vegan superstar’s short TikTok monologues have garnered over 4 million viewers following her live recipes served up with life lesson ingredients about staying true to who you are. There’s no surprise why she was TikTok’s top creator of 2020, PETA’s 2020 Person of the year and her iconic catchphrases ‘that's your business’ and ‘like so, like that’ both are now trademarked.

A year ago this time, she was just warming up.. about to walk into one the most abundant seasons of her life. But she was far from just getting started. Tabitha’s purpose of blessing the lives of others in the most unique ways has been a long time coming on a journey of ups and downs, closed doors, do overs and perseverance… until she arrived.

1) From Dreams To Reality

Tabitha Brown’s dreams of becoming an actress started with a childhood fantasy of starring as the best friend of Rudy Huxtable on The Cosby Show. Her love for little Rudy’s character influenced some of her first experiences acting,  performing in school stage plays as well as community theatre and church in Eden, North Carolina.

2) From NC to LA

Highschool Graduation brought Brown to fashion studies at the International Fine Arts College in Miami. She ended up dropping out to pursue acting full time and taking her talents to Southern California. Tabitha spent 12 years in LA grinding for a breakthrough, which was a journey of "little small victories, but never nothing really big," as she would describe it. Getting a foot in the door in Hollywood was easier said than done while balancing two jobs and ultimately Tabitha decided to return home for a year. "That one year turned into five years, turned into a baby, a marriage, car, job, house and a forgotten dream," Brown told The New York Times. The opportunity would then come to co-host a late-night show in her hometown. That was the turning point of believing again. In 2015, 10 years after her move to LA, Tabitha landed a stand up comedy gig, a lane that would become therapy for the Hollywood hopeful during a time she was coping with depression.

3) From Broken To Faith

A battle of living with severe chronic pain and fatigue created yet another block along the road to success. After becoming severely ill the following year she was forced to pause her auditioning and stand-up gigs which led to a struggle with depression and anxiety. Tabitha would then turn to faith after several unsuccessful attempts to rid her illness by way of doctor prescribed drugs. "I said, 'God, if you heal me, I'll do whatever you ask, please. Just heal me,” Brown described a dream that came to her while being sick. “ I saw myself on a show. I had my hair in a little afro and I was very happy and free. And I thought, OK God reveal that to me, what is that? And in my prayer, I heard him say, 'Start doing videos'.

4) From Faith To Unexpected Favor

While driving for Uber In 2018 after finishing a drop off, Brown made a lunch run to whole foods. The TTLA sandwich she ordered, which is the vegan version of a BLT, was so good that she decided to post a review of it. That post ended up becoming an instant internet fav, virally catapulting her into the spot light. She would soon become the new ambassador for Whole Foods shortly after, followed up by vegan festival hosting gigs, collaborations with vegan companies and the list of opportunities continue to grow.

5) From Family To Fame

Tabitha Browns first viral video came from a Renegade dance Tiktok upload. But it was Tabitha’s daughter, Choyce, who pushed her into the idea of starting a page. "She kept saying, 'cause I think you'll be, like, a good, like, comforting mom for the people on there. I think you just add some, like, really good energy. And I was like, I don't know about that, girl. I really just wanted to do the renegade dance everybody was doing,”. 2 months after her dance post went viral and hand full of recipe videos started to circulate, Brown gained 2 million followers, all falling in love with her voice and motherly warmness. These days you can catch Tabitha along with her husband and kids featured in many of her videos, inspiring the world throughthe most relatable and down to earth concepts.

6) From The Small Screen To The Big Screen

While the pandemic introduced innovative ways for us to maintain , for Brown it was an opportunity to entertain and be a beacon of light in the world during such a dark time. She launched “All Love” on ellentube, a show that transformed her TikTok talents into her own platform for self-care advise, relationship direction, recipes and more of her favorite things that inspire viewers. And In addition to cameo roles in Switched at Birth and Will & Grace, you can catch your favorite “internet mom” on Season 4 of Showtime’s “The Chi”.

7) From Struggle to Sunshine

Expanding her brand with an new all-purpose seasoning, Tabitha Brown has teamed up with McCormick to bring fans a tropical blend of her favorite ingredients to the kitchen. Sunshine Seasoning completely sold out within 39 minutes of its drop and became yet another viral moment for the vegan influencer. Brown’s journey into what is clearly now her time for success has positioned her for a long time goal, retiring her husband Chance Brown. They’ve been together for 23 years and share 2 children. Chance has served with Los Angeles Police Department for 15 years and will now pursue his passion of working full time with his non profit organization, Team Chance Basketball.
