Black Girl Glitter At The 2021 Oscars

Sunday night’s 93rd Annual Academy Awards was packed with Black Girl energy. Despite the ceremony’s history for a lack of representation of our community, we love to see our ladies on deck and representing HEAVY. From flawless fashion to historic wins and a display of sisterhood per usual, the power of Black Women in film and entertainment was present.

To kick things off, our girl Regina King opened up with a fierce walk and a very necessary monologue that touched on everything from racial injustice to motherhood and rightfully highlighting her 3 nominations for her directorial debut.

H.E.R wins big in the music category for best original song. The win for ‘Fight For You” from Judas and the Black Messiah marks the singer’s first Academy Award. Also a major first, Mia Neal and Jamika Wilson became the first Black women to win a Best Makeup and Hairstyling Oscar for their work on “Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom.”

Andra Day, Viola Davis, Angela Basset, Halle Berry and more were all on deck serving up girl glitter on a platter as well. Check out some of our favorite looks and moments from this years Academy Awards.
