Macy’s First Black-Owned Plus Sized Clothing Line Is Here!

Nina Parker, host of E! network’s Nightly Pop is making history with her forthcoming clothing line, and its all about the curves baby!

Adding to her many hats of TV show host, costume designer, actress and producer, the powerhouse is now a fashion designer, with no plans on pumping the breaks any time soon. The focus is full figured. After countless challenges with finding DOPE options to rock in plus sizes, she decided to create her own options, for herself women who look like her.

"My stylist and I were trying to find stuff off of the rack and it just wasn't comparable to my counterparts," Says Nina. "It felt really unfair, like, ‘Yes, I am bigger than them, but does that mean I don't matter as much because my waist is bigger?' That struggle motivated the talk show host to design her own looks for last year's Oscars and this year's Golden Globes. Parker is now bringing her own collection of plus-sized clothing to Macy’s, to celebrate a woman’s curves.

“I was tired of trying to make a square peg fit into a circle. so, I was like, ‘let me create my own circle.'”

The Nina Parker Collection expected to be available May 14, will be Macy’s first plus-size line created by a Black Woman.

"I want them to feel like they matter, like they are a bad bitch," she declaims. "I want them to feel bossy, like they can walk in a room and everybody will take notice."

The collection will feature 17-pieces ranging in sizes from size 16W to 24W. With offerings of tank tops, dresses, denim that feature bold prints, fun fabrics, and sequins, the affordability of the line will range from $39 – $129.

The short-sleeve body con dress has words like, “hustle”, “queen”, “love”, and “faith” in graphic print is one of the many looks you can look forward to ladies.

In addition to the bossy vibes the styles are giving us, you can also expect to see the line marketed on full display in stores once available.

With plus-size sections usually placed in the back corner of stores, "sometimes you feel like you're getting a drug deal," she says. "It's like, ‘Why do we have to feel like we're being alienated because of our size?'

It was an intentional goal to push for the looks to be highlighted front and center in all Macy’s stores across the country. So Dope.
