New Orleans Artist Makes Super Bowl History

#HerStoryMakers | #WonderWomanWednesday ✨️

Meet Queen Tahj, New Orleans native, and the first local artist to ever collaborate with the NFL on a Super Bowl logo x theme art design. Tahj Williams, who is also a Mardi Gras Indian, curated the gorgeous concept with bare gifted hands using a similar beadwork technique from her Black Masking Indian suit designs.

Bead by bead, the Queen of the Golden Eagles Tribe honored the traditional method passed down through generations of the Black Masking Indians to officially stamp NOLA as the home of Super Bowl LIX. πŸ”₯πŸ”₯πŸ”₯

The Black Masking tradition, represented through the art pieces produced for the NFL, originated as a celebration on the backstreets when African Americans were first excluded from mainstream Mardi Gras festivities. The 26 year old's 'love letter to New Orleans' will now appear on digital game tickets, the official program cover, and the exterior of the Hyatt Regency Hotel New Orleans.

Respect, Salute Queen! πŸ–€πŸ‘‘
