Whatever you do, you can’t win, so WIN.
Super Bowl LIX belongs to her. The annual sports platform, often crowned sports biggest stage was magical for many reasons this year, and women dominated the stage. From the official game week theme art & logo to the black national anthem and historic halftime show that saw raw vocals and Crip walking, to the behind-the-scenes marketing on so much more. One of the standout moments came when the highly anticipated commercials aired.
Making a heavy comeback after a 27-year hiatus from Super Bowl ads, NIKE is making a statement. The iconic sports brand’s 90 second commercial aired during the big game is a timely celebration of female athletes. The message is loud and clearly inspires you to do it anyway. ‘It’ metaphorically points at anything “they” say you can’t do, more poetically, WIN. The brilliant production, three-times as long as standard Super Bowl commercials, is narrated by Grammy-winning artist Doechii. With Zeppelin’s 1969 single “Whole Lotta Love” serving as the backdrop, the rapper drops jewels: “You can’t make demands, You can’t be proud. You can’t keep score. You can’t stand out, You can’t be confident…Whatever you do, you can’t win. So Win.”
The historic campaign features WNBA stars A’ja Wilson, Caitlin Clark and Sabrina Ionescu along with track and field sprinter Sha’Carri Richardson, Olympic gold medalist gymnast Jordan Chiles, and current world No. 1 tennis pro Aryna Sabalenka. The world was captivated, and rightfully so. Check out the full commercial.
What a message. The ‘So Win’ attitude feels like a new error of ‘Just Do It”. But the clever movement did not conclude without the legendary motto. The ad was followed up by the launch of a new multi-star Nike T-shirt. The “So Win” Just Do It T-Shirt along with a series of individual athlete shirts are available at Nike.com.
