Andra Day Rises Up

As we head into a new month that shines light on Women in their greatness everywhere, what a treat it was to wake up to this moment. HERstory made. Singer, songwriter & actress Andra Day becomes the first black woman in 35 years to win best actress at the 2021 Golden Globes… whew! That’s a lot to unpack. Congratulations are order for the ‘Rise Up’ singer, whose portrayal of the legendary Billie Holiday earned her the honor. The last time the category was won by a Black Woman was back in 1986, when Whoopi Goldberg snagged the title for her role in ‘The Color Purple”.

If all that girl glitter isn’t enough to kick off Women’s History Month in the best way, during Day’s Access Hollywood interview, actress / director Regina King crashes the party, giving us life! Check out the clip to soak up some of that black girl joy shared between the two, live in the dopest moment.

This is the the type of energy we live for, and we love to see it! Empowerment, encouragement, love, support… from one successful powerful woman to another. Sisterhood. Happy Women’s History Month Ladies!
