Girl Power At Super Bowl LVI

The Los Angeles Rams went head up with The Cincinnati Bengals at The SoFi Stadium in LA on Sunday, leaving The Rams with the title as the 2022 NFL Super Bowl Champions. But we were all there for the music. Wouldn’t you agree? The one thing that brings us together in harmony, is always the music. And this year, one of sport’s biggest stages left no crumbs when it came to a display of Hip Hop & Soul culture.

Since the announcement dropped in 2021 that the half time show this year would take us on a Westside jouney during 90s era hip hop with a splash of R&B Soul, we were all preparing for a historic night- one this stage has never seen. And for the first time a collaboration of 6 artists, 6 greats who have left their names imprinted on the history of the genre came….to…. deliver. The halftime show was everything we needed it to be. That’s the status. And our Queen of Hip Hop Soul came and did what she was sent to do amongst the fellas. Hats off to MJB, Kendrick Lamar, Eminem, Snoop Dogg & Dr. Dre, oh and our surprise visitor, 50 Cent. You aced the assignment and made us proud.

The Halftime show had us all partying in our living rooms indeed. But the main stage wasn’t the only celebration to light up the night.

It Was The Black Girl Magic For Us!

Like we always do to properly kick things off, the Campbell sisters (Mary Mary) took us to church to give thanks and praise with “Life Every Voice and Sing". The Inglewood natives delivered a power-filled rendition of the song and looked absolutely stunning for one of the biggest moments of their careers.

The soft and elegant beauty of Jhené Aiko’s style and voice offered us grace with “America The Beautiful”.

Country vocalist Mickey Guyton sings The Star-Spangled Banner (USA National Anthem) with strength and confidence, complemented by beautiful choir voices. The inspiring rendition was closed out by a U.S Air Force Heritage Flight team launch above the stadium.

Mary J. Blige not only brought the stage presence during her halftime set, she also delivered a powerful message via a commercial release with a heavy focus on Womens Health. The Queen teamed up with Hologic- an innovative medical company, to advocate for wellness and encourage women to schedule check-ups regularly.

"I want women everywhere to know that real love means putting yourself first and prioritizing your annual screenings.”— Mary J. Blige

It was indeed a night of Hip Hop history and high energy sports. But it was also clearly a woman’s world at Super Bowl 2022. We love to see it :) Salute ladies!
